Reduction Mammoplasty

Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that aims to remove excess skin and breast tissue to make the breasts more proportionate to the body. Breast reduction can be an option for women who have very large breasts, which can lead to physical and emotional health problems.

Some common health problems associated with very large breasts include back, neck, and shoulder pain, skin irritation under the breasts, and difficulty finding properly fitting clothes. Additionally, many women with very large breasts report self-esteem and body image issues. Breast reduction can help alleviate these problems and improve the patient's quality of life.

Breast reduction surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and lasts three to five hours. During surgery, the surgeon removes excess skin and breast tissue and then repositions the nipples and areola to a higher position. The surgery may leave scars, though most women report that the scars are smaller than expected and become less visible over time.

After surgery, it is common to experience pain and swelling, which should decrease over time. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions on how to care for the incision and manage pain. The final result of the surgery may take several months to become fully apparent, but most women report a significant improvement in health problems and self-esteem after the surgery.

In summary, breast reduction is a surgical option for women with very large breasts who face physical and emotional health problems. The surgery involves removing excess skin and breast tissue and repositioning the nipples and areola. Recovery can take a few days or weeks, depending on the patient, but most women report a significant improvement in health problems and self-esteem after the surgery.

Large breasts?

Back pain?

Well.

Breast hypertrophy, that is, large breasts, affects a large part of the population.

In addition to harming the spine due to inadequate posture, it can even cause skin diseases, such as dermatitis, that worsen and are aggravated by excessive sweating in the breast fold.

In addition to general discomfort and loss of self-esteem.

There is no age limit, as it can occur in girls in early adolescence.

An attempt is made to postpone it a little so that growth does not interfere so much with the result and does not require other procedures in the future.

The traditional scar is the T-scar, an inverted T-scar that is in the breast fold, extending upwards in a column around the areola, but it can have some variations.

Anesthesia can be general anesthesia or epidural anesthesia.

Hospitalization can be performed as a day hospital regimen, meaning discharge on the same day, or, at most, hospitalization for one more day.

Return to activities is gradual and depends on recovery, but it can take around one to two months.

The main complications that can occur are minor bleeding, possible hematoma, infection, in addition to the scars already mentioned previously.

Furthermore, there may be some asymmetry between the breasts, and it is worth remembering that it can interfere with breastfeeding in the future.

What is reduction mammoplasty?

Reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to remove excess skin and breast tissue to make the breasts more proportionate to the body.

Why do some women opt for reduction mammoplasty?

Many women opt for reduction mammoplasty because they have very large breasts, which can lead to physical and emotional health problems, such as back, neck, and shoulder pain, skin irritation under the breasts, and difficulty finding properly fitting clothes. Additionally, many women with very large breasts report self-esteem and body image issues.

What is the surgical process for reduction mammoplasty?

Reduction mammoplasty surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and lasts three to five hours. During surgery, the surgeon removes excess skin and breast tissue and then repositions the nipples and areola to a higher position.

What are the risks of reduction mammoplasty?

Like any surgical procedure, reduction mammoplasty involves some risks, including infection, adverse reaction to medications, scarring, and pain. The surgeon should discuss these risks with the patient before surgery.

What is the recovery time after reduction mammoplasty?

The recovery time after reduction mammoplasty can vary, but generally takes a few days or weeks. It is common to experience pain and swelling after surgery, which should decrease over time. The final result of the surgery may take several months to become fully apparent.

Is reduction mammoplasty an expensive procedure?

The cost of reduction mammoplasty can vary, depending on where the surgery is performed and the complexity of the procedure. Health plans may partially or fully cover reduction mammoplasty if it is performed for medical reasons, but it is important to check with the health plan for details, as it is a procedure not included in the ANS (National Health Agency) list.
