What is BRACHIOPLASTY?

Brachioplasty is the plastic surgery performed to reduce the circumference and improve the contour of the arms.

It is one of the most common surgeries performed on ex-obese patients.

• It can involve only liposuction, skin resection, or both procedures combined.

Scars: When dermolipectomy (skin resection) is performed, the aim is to leave the scar on the posterior aspect of the arm.

Anesthesia: Anesthesia can be general or sedation with local anesthesia.

Hospital Stay: It can be performed on a Day Hospital basis with discharge on the same day if not associated with other procedures and if the patient is in suitable condition for discharge.

Post-Operative / Recovery: Normally, the patient can return to activities in 2 to 3 weeks. An elastic compression garment should be worn for at least 1 month.

Complications: The scar may widen. The arm may be swollen (edematous) in the first few days. Temporary loss of sensation. Bruises and ecchymoses.
