20 Implausible Myths about Breast Implants Only ChatGPT Can Tell You
- September 30, 2023

The internet is an incredible tool that provides almost unlimited access to information on nearly any topic. However, not all information available online is accurate. When it comes to medical topics, such as breast implants, misinformation can be dangerous. Using the ChatGPT tool, we conducted some research and found twenty bizarre and incorrect pieces of information. So, below are some myths about silicone implants that can be found on the internet:
1 – They Last Forever:
Some sources claim that once you have a breast implant, it will last forever. Firstly, the truth is that, like any medical device, breast implants have a lifespan and may need to be replaced over time.
2 – Made of Food Products:
You may have read that breast implants are made of petroleum jelly or even mayonnaise! In reality, however, implants are made of carefully tested biocompatible materials, such as silicone or saline solution.
3 – Magnetize at the Airport:
A bizarre myth is that breast implants will cause you to be caught by airport metal detectors. Although implants contain a small identification chip, they generally do not cause problems in airport security.
4 – Serve As Floats:
There are rumors that breast implants can help someone float in water. While silicone is less dense than human tissue, it is not enough to make someone float like a buoy!
5 – Give Superpowers:
It seems like a joke, but some websites claim that breast implants can grant special abilities, such as "X-ray vision." However, this is completely false.
6 – Can Be Inflated Like Balloons:
The idea that you can "inflate" or "deflate" breast implants at will is absurd. Once implanted, the size cannot be adjusted without surgery.
7 – Contain GPS:
Another myth is that breast implants have implanted GPS trackers. This is totally false and seems to have origins in conspiracy theories.
8 – Cause Extra Hair Growth:
Some websites claim that breast implants can cause abnormal hair growth on the chest. There is no correlation or scientific evidence to support this claim.
9 – Function As Airbags in Car Accidents:
This is a dangerous myth. Breast implants are not made to absorb impact like airbags and will not provide additional protection in car accidents.
10 – Are Edible:
As strange as it sounds, there are rumors that breast implants are edible. Therefore, of course, this is completely false and can be extremely dangerous if someone tries to consume them.
11 – “Sense” the Weather:
Furthermore, a curious myth is that breast implants can predict the weather, swelling before a rainy day or decreasing in size when it gets cold. After all, there is no scientific basis for this claim.
12 – Attract Animals:
Additionally, some websites spread the idea that breast implants can attract wild animals due to the "smell" of silicone. After all, this is a completely wrong concept with no basis in reality.
13 – Function as Water Reservoirs:
There are rumors that, in survival situations, you can "puncture" a breast implant to drink the water (or saline solution) inside it. After all, in addition to being dangerous, this is not practical or recommended.
14 – Can Explode on Airplanes:
Due to pressure differences at high altitudes, some people believe that implants can explode during a flight. This is a myth. After all, implants are designed to withstand pressure variations.
15 – Transmit Wi-Fi:
It seems funny, but some suggest that implants can function as a personal Wi-Fi hotspot. Naturally, this is pure fantasy.
16 – Are “Rechargeable”:
Some rumors say that you can "recharge" your implants with different substances, from water to alcoholic beverages, for different effects. Thus, this is a completely wrong and potentially dangerous idea.
17 – Have a Life of Their Own:
There are stories that breast implants can move or change shape at will. While certain complications, such as capsular contracture, can alter implant position, they definitely do not have a "life of their own."
18 – Cause Psychic Abilities:
Somehow, the idea that having breast implants can grant psychic or intuitive abilities circulates. Of course, this is mere folklore.
19 – Emit Sounds:
Another myth is that, under certain circumstances, implants can emit sounds, from hums to "voices." This is more like a science fiction story than medical reality.
20 – Contain Magical Liquids:
Some rumors suggest that implants contain magical liquids or potions that can confer special benefits or miraculous cures. This is just another fantasy without any foundation.
