Scars can be in the armpit, in the inframammary fold, which is the most common, and periareolar, which is around the areola. IS THE IMPLANT PLACED IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND THE MUSCLE? This question greatly depends on the surgeon's experience and the technique they are most accustomed to performing. Each technique has its advantages and disadvantages. In the case of placing it behind the muscle, one of the justifications is for very thin patients with almost no tissue, because it will prevent the prosthesis from marking the skin more. In addition, it is also widely used for patients who have undergone mastectomy and no longer have glandular tissue and only have fat and skin. So, in these cases, the prosthesis is already placed behind the muscle. When we place it in front of the muscle, the post-operative period is much calmer and less painful. Previously, they were all smooth and had a higher rate of capsular contracture. The texture will interfere with the adherence of the prosthesis to the tissues.
