Scars can be in the armpit, in the inframammary fold, which is the most common, and periareolar, which is around the areola. DOES THE IMPLANT GO IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND THE MUSCLE? This question depends heavily on the surgeon's experience and the technique they are most accustomed to performing. Each technique has its advantages and disadvantages. In the case of placing it behind the muscle, one of the justifications is for very thin patients with almost no tissue, because it will prevent the skin from being more marked by the prosthesis. Furthermore, it is also widely used for patients who have undergone a mastectomy and no longer have gland tissue, only fat and skin. So, in these cases, the prosthesis is already placed behind the muscle. When we place it in front of the muscle, the post-operative period is much calmer and less painful.
