It is a congenital breast alteration, which may be related to a family history, meaning a genetic predisposition. The breast usually takes on a cylindrical shape. Treatment varies according to the breast's shape and volume.
Each case must be evaluated to determine the best solution: it can be done with fat grafting, mammoplasty and mastopexy with or without the placement of silicone implants, with hybrid periareolar mastopexy with an implant associated with fat grafting being an excellent approach for a portion of cases.
In cases of tuberous breast, since the areola is enlarged, it is also possible to reduce its size, and it is very important to treat the fibrotic ring by releasing the fibrous tissue.
