Augmentation mammaplasty with silicone implants is one of the most performed plastic surgeries worldwide. In Brazil, according to data from the Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica (SBPC), it is the second-ranked procedure, losing only to liposuction. And since this month we are addressing female self-esteem, there's nothing better than talking about this topic. 😉 ⠀ Silicone is an almost inert material used in Medicine since 1946. It is a chemical substance produced from silicon found in sand, and can be manufactured in solid, liquid, or gel form. From 1961 onwards, the first silicone implants in the form of a gel encased by a rigid elastomer capsule appeared in the United States. Since then, augmentation mammaplasty has gained great popularity, becoming the dream of many women in the 80s and 90s. ⠀ But after all, why is breast augmentation surgery so desired? ⠀ Weight fluctuations, age, pregnancy, and breastfeeding are the main reasons that cause sagging, in addition to genetic factors such as very small or asymmetrical breasts resulting in a disharmonious appearance. Once again, it is a procedure related to women's well-being, directly and positively impacting their self-esteem. ⠀ 🌸 Remember: choosing the appropriate prosthesis is fundamental for the safety of the procedure.
