One theory is the relationship with pro-inflammatory diets. Thus, certain foods can intensify the “inflammation” that causes lipedema, increasing fat accumulation and worsening symptoms. Therefore, it is important to identify these foods in the patient's diet and exclude them.
Each individual will have a different reaction to each food, and we are not talking about allergies, but rather inflammatory stimulation. We start with foods commonly associated with this stimulation, such as: Milk, gluten, eggs, processed foods. We introduce a more regular diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and legumes 🍒🥑🍍🍇🥦
There is a food tolerance test that can be useful for identifying these foods, but it is extremely sensitive and not very specific, meaning it can identify foods that do not have this cause and effect. Therefore, exclusion must be evaluated individually and can be complemented by a specialized nutritionist. Furthermore, physical activity and weight maintenance can ensure a good quality of life for patients with lipedema. 😉
