Breast cancer treatment can be mutilating. This is because in addition to deformities that the disease can cause in the breast, the patient has to deal with the emotional impact.

There are several types of surgery indicated as part of cancer treatment. Below, I explain a little about each of them:

✔Lumpectomy: surgery to remove small tumors from the breast;
✔Quadrantectomy: partial removal of breast tissue, in the affected area with a safety margin;
✔Adenomastectomy: surgical procedure where the breast content is removed, preserving only the skin and areola;
✔Mastectomy: complete surgical removal of the breast;
✔Radical Mastectomy: surgical procedure involving the removal of the breast, underlying chest muscle, and lymph nodes from the axilla;
✔Modified Radical Mastectomy: surgery that removes the entire mammary gland, including axillary lymph nodes;
✔Skin-sparing Mastectomy: removal of the entire mammary gland with preservation of the skin. This technique allows optimizing breast reconstruction using implants or the patient's own tissue.
