Prevention
Daily sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), reapplication every 2 hours, avoiding exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, wearing hats and UV-protective clothing, monthly self-skin exam, and annual dermatoscopy with a dermatologist.
When Plastic Surgery Comes In
After lesion removal by a dermatologist or oncologic surgeon, reconstructive plastic surgery repairs the defect with flaps, grafts, or skin expanders — preserving function (eyelids, nose, lips) and restoring symmetry.
