Calm down: the vast majority of breast nodules are not malignant. However, for precaution, they require medical investigation, which is usually complemented by mammography, breast ultrasound and, in some cases, biopsy and magnetic resonance imaging.

Even if breast cancer is ruled out, it is worth remembering that nodules are sometimes palpable and cause discomfort, and can be treated surgically. This is a relatively simple and quick procedure, which is performed through a small incision in the breast next to the nodule. In these cases, patients can count on the mastologist and the plastic surgeon for breast reconstruction.
