During consultations, many questions commonly arise about liposuction. Perhaps this is one of the plastic surgeries where patients have the most expectations and anxiety. What I always emphasize – with great emphasis – is that liposuction is not a procedure for weight loss, but rather to reduce localized fat areas. In other words: to sculpt body contours.
⠀
Before making a decision, it is essential to seek a plastic surgeon with experience in liposuction who is a member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica.
⠀
An experienced doctor will ensure a smooth and safe procedure, always in a hospital setting. Another precaution is never to omit diseases, treatments, medications, or the use of other chemical substances. This information is of extreme importance for the pre and post-operative periods, in addition to cementing a sincere relationship of trust between doctor and patient.
⠀
And pay attention:❗
⠀
⠀
There is a safety limit for performing the surgery. The recommendation of the Conselho Federal de Medicina is that up to 7% of the patient's body weight be removed in wet liposuction (from the infiltration of a saline solution with adrenaline into the area to be aspirated) and a maximum of 5% in dry surgery (without tumescent solution).
⠀
⠀
For example, a person weighing 70 kg can aspirate, at most, approximately 4.9L. This is because if the liposuction is too voluminous, blood loss can also be. With great care and following all safety procedures, the result will be a great success! 😉
