Liposuction with laser lipolysis. (laserlipolysis or lipolaser) Liposuction is one of the most performed aesthetic procedures in the world. It is a well-established technique for localized fat removal, using a cannula, through aspiration by negative pressure, either by syringe or by surgical aspirator. It is not a procedure indicated for those who want to lose weight. It is contraindicated in obese patients. It can treat various body regions such as: Thigh, Love handles, abdomen, back, flank, double chin, arm, and others. There are some newer techniques that assist liposuction such as Vibrolipo, which reduces the doctor's effort during the procedure, and Lipolaser, which, with the aid of a laser fiber, destroys fat. The destroyed fat can then be aspirated. We use a 980nm diode laser for lipolysis. Anesthesia can range from local, and local with sedation for small areas, to general anesthesia, but always in a surgical environment. Scars are minimal, just enough for cannula access. It is a quick hospitalization with discharge on the same day. Compared to traditional liposuction, the advantages of lipolaser are:
  • less invasive, with a smaller access orifice
  • coagulation of blood vessels, resulting in less risk of bleeding and hematoma and collection formation
  • much faster recovery
In fact, studies with live models have already demonstrated a stimulus for collagen deposition (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21242431) as well as an improvement in skin laxity in the treatment of the “double chin” has already been shown (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25968162)
