This month, let's address a topic that continues to be taboo for many people: female intimate surgery. 💐

It involves a series of aesthetic procedures performed on the external genitalia of women with the objective of reducing size, correcting asymmetries, or laxity in the region.

According to a survey by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), Brazil registers 21,000 surgeries per year, placing the country 1st in the world ranking. 😱

The most common procedure among those performed on the female genital region is labiaplasty or nymphoplasty – a name derived from the Greek “nymphé”, meaning “nymph, bride, labia minora”.

This is the technical term used to define the surgery that corrects the labia minora. Most cases have a congenital etiology, however, it can develop with aging after the use of hormones or chronic skin inflammation conditions.

Nymphoplasty is indicated not only for aesthetic reasons but also because it can improve local hygiene, in addition to repairing the psychological damage associated with low self-esteem.
