Did you know that it's possible to do a 3D simulation and see what your breasts would look like with a silicone implant? There are several ways to choose the ideal volume, but the doctor also has to use good judgment and place what truly fits and will be harmonious. There are various brands and models; the dimensions of each implant can vary greatly. Sometimes they are completely different with the same volume. Others have the same base, but because they have different projections, they have different volumes. It is very important to clarify these details for patients, but how to explain? I like to show the different volumes and shapes. I believe it is essential for the patient to see and touch. Something that even impresses those accompanying the patient. One technique, in the office, is to use sizers, where the patient can try on the volume in their bra, making it easier to understand the patient's desire. Sizers can also be used during surgery, but they serve to guide the surgeon in their choice and do not always need to be used; I prefer them only in cases where the patient has significant breast asymmetries. I believe the most modern way to choose this volume is by using the technology available on the market. There are some devices, cameras, and software that provide the patient with the experience of seeing themselves, already with the implants in a 3D simulation. I have a 3D camera that I find phenomenal for these situations. I can simulate the result with different implants, helping the patient choose the volume. These simulations allow for better communication between the patient and the surgeon. Although they do not promise a result, it becomes easier for the patient to understand the differences between implants and their results. Obviously, these simulations help but cannot be a promise of results, which is why they should be used with caution.
