Doctor, I had liposuction and I'm excited to show off the surgery results. Can I put on my bikini and run to the beach? 🤔 ⠀ In this case, my answer is: NO! ❌ ⠀ Sun rays are not compatible with the recovery period post-surgery because healing can be compromised if the patient is exposed to the sun, which can cause the following complications: ⠀ • Increased pain • Discomfort • Increased edema (swelling), erythema (redness) • Appearance of skin spots - And, most importantly, INCREASE the pigmentation of scars ⠀ ⠀ These precautions must be redoubled even more by patients undergoing surgery during the summer, but also without overdoing it in winter. I prefer that the patient avoid sun exposure for at least 6 months, a period during which the scar is still in the healing process. But I emphasize that as long as there is any bruising or mark in the operated area, the restriction should be intensified. ⠀ ⠀ Sunscreen is indispensable in the post-operative period, even when not directly exposed to the sun. Therefore, my recommendation is: be patient and follow all your surgeon's recommendations so that the surgical result is the best possible. Soon, you will be able to show off your soaring self-esteem to everyone. 😉 #plasticsurgery #plasticsurgeon #health #liposuction #postoperative #selfesteem #xôlipedema #lipedema ⠀ ⠀
